Most GEO advice focuses on structure: schema, headings, FAQ blocks. Those matter, but they only help a model extract a claim that is worth extracting in the first place. The writing itself is still the largest lever, and the data is specific about why.

Content that includes original statistics or data points gets cited by AI engines roughly 41% more often than content that makes the same argument in general terms. The reason is not that models prefer numbers for their own sake. A specific, sourced statistic is a self-contained, verifiable claim: easy to lift, easy to attribute, low risk to repeat. A general statement like "many companies struggle with this" gives a model nothing concrete to cite, so it either paraphrases vaguely or skips the source entirely.
Writing for extraction, not just readability
Extractable writing puts the answer at the start of a paragraph, ahead of the setup. Each section should be able to stand on its own if a model lifts only that paragraph: define the term before using it, state the claim before qualifying it, and avoid sentences that depend on three prior sentences to make sense. The result reads slightly more direct than typical marketing prose, and that directness is the point.
Sourcing your own claims like a model would trust them
Every statistic should carry enough context for a model to treat it as verifiable on its own: what was measured, roughly when, and by whom. A number with no attached source is functionally the same as an unsupported opinion to a model deciding whether to repeat it. This does not require academic-grade citation, just enough context that the claim reads as checkable rather than asserted.
